OUR STORY
Riccallish Allsorts was 'born' at the Riccall Information Point on Back Lane one evening in January 2000. The room was packed with locals wanting to start a drama group. On 13th January just seven people attended a further meeting where Ken Davison was voted Chairman, Liz Treasurer and Chris Secretary. Val Petrie put forward the name Riccallish Allsorts for the group.
In spite of the interest, only a handful of people turned up to the first rehearsal. With a non-existent budget and no stage, our first shows consisted of revues, where members performed sketches or read poems. Finally, we were in a position to put on our first pantomime, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, with profits ploughed back into the group allowing us to purchase a stage, and a Lottery Grant giving us the opportunity to buy scaffolding, two accessible towers, a curtain track and a backcloth.
Ken and Liz are still with us, along with various other Riccallish Allsorts members who make up our current committee.
